Friday 31st May - Stage On The Green

Singer/songwriter, Peri Rae, uses her formative experiences to write guitar and vocal driven indie-rock songs about her life and how she views the world around her.

Much like Ben Howard, Peri uses the ocean as her inspiration, with songs like ‘The Ocean’ detailing the healing properties of a sea-based existence. Her infectious personality and open lyrics immediately connects her to audiences.

Her first release was a viral Tiktok sensation reaching over 10 million views. Seen by Alfie Templeman, he personally selected her to open for him on tour. She has been celebrated by BBC Introducing on several occasions, naming her the “One To Watch”. They invited her to open for James Bay and had her play the iconic ‘BBC Introducing stage’ at Bedford River Festival.

Watford-born, Peri moved to Cornwall last year to escape the city. Her upcoming record ‘i moved to the beach’ is inspired by her move and the lyrics candidly mosaics stories of her change of life over the last few years. Music is Peri’s outlet to explore her most intimate feelings; the things she struggles to talk about in real life, mental health, relationships, personal shortcomings, trauma. She uses her personal narrative to relate with her audiences, saying, “I find that when you’re open with people they’re more inclined to be open with you, I guess in a way, this is what my music is. An extension of my own open personality. I like to think it comforts people.”

Adding band leader to her CV, the summer of 23’, Peri has taken the South West festival scene by storm, playing huge stages at Rock Oyster, Spring Classic, St Ives Festival, Great Estate, Tunes In The Park, as well as being invited to play an industry showcase in London with Metropolis Music.

Her debut EP ‘Handing You My Heart’ gathered a million streams in its first week on Spotify, and was celebrated by Spotify’s biggest playlists ‘New Music Friday’, ‘Our Generation’, ‘Fresh Folk.’ As an independent artist, Peri takes great pride in having achieved everything on her own, whilst working multiple day jobs.

She was scouted at a gig by Deborah Francis-White and invited to be on the award-winning podcast ‘The Guilty Feminist.’ Organising her own solo debut UK & IR Tour last winter, she played to multiple sold-out shows across the country.

Earlier this year, she was invited out to Virginia to record her upcoming EP at the iconic White Star Studios (Jason Mraz, Parachute) with producer John Trainum (Kanye West, Kate Bollinger).

She is also the winner of NextGen Fund 2023 Grant.
