Friday 30th May - Stage On The Green
The Velvet Hands blend slacker story-telling and belting guitar riffs
The Velvet Hands bring their bolshy spirit and garage punk energy back to our eccentric little corner of the world. Described as “full of bolshy spirit” by NME and praised for their raw, brash sound that dances somewhere between The Libertines and The Clash, this is a band that knows how to turn a stage into an unforgettable whirlwind.
From Radio 1 Album of the Week to captivating crowds across sold-out venues in London, Paris, and beyond, they’ve gained loyal fans and glowing support from the likes of BBC Introducing and Steve Lamacq. And who could forget their legendary live set perched atop a yellow school bus at last year’s Great Estate Festival? Pure magic.
This year, they’re back to do it all again, proving once more why they’re one of the UK’s most talked-about bands. Are you ready to be swept up in their sonic mayhem?
The Velvet Hands Socials:
The Velvet Hands blend slacker story-telling and belting guitar riffs reminiscent of The Strokes with rousing punk choruses that recall punk bands such as the The Clash. After forming amidst Cornwall’s blistering garage-rock scene, the four-piece relocated to London and have been making a name for themselves on the capital’s underground guitar circuit ever since. The band are now one of the UK’s most exciting guitar bands.
Gaining airplay on Radio X, BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing amongst others, the band have also supported Fontaines D.C., VANT, Wallows, Frank Turner and Paul Weller, opened for Liam Gallagher at The Eden Project and headlined stages at Isle of Wight and Y Not? Festivals.
The Velvet Hands also put in an impressive performance at the Pilton Party Auditions Final where Michael Eavis hand-picked them to support at this year’s instalment of the infamous Pilton Party.
The Velvet Hands, have only had a taste of the success that is to come. See them at The Great Estate before it’s too late!
